Southern California’s weather is one of Orange’s biggest attracting features. The summers are warm and the winters are cool, but not unpleasantly so. The late spring through late fall months have average high temperatures in the 70s and 80s whereas the average winter lows tend to be relatively mild, sometimes reaching less than freezing temperatures.
The Orange Historic District, also known as Old Towne, encompasses one square mile. It contains a large commercial district including many unique shops you won’t find anywhere else. In fact, this part of Orange has one of the largest concentrations of historic buildings in the region. In addition, Old Towne Orange is home to a variety of bungalows, cottages, prairie style homes and Victorian mansions.
Olive is another district in the city, situated in northern Orange. It encompasses two miles and offers a more rural feel than the rest of the city. While new condos and homes have emerged in recent years, Olive is still very small with no through traffic.
Many Orange residents looking for affordable housing will find the area right outside Chapman University to be desirable. Many students live here, but so do new and growing families.
