Homestead is a Florida city situated in Miami-Dade County, making it a suburb of Miami. Agriculture is a major component of the local economy, which is the second oldest in the county. Today, Homestead has a population of 60,000 people.

Homestead is just 35 miles southwest of the city of Miami, making it a great spot for day trips. The city is also 24 miles away from Key Largo and not far from the US 1 junction. Two national parks, Biscayne and Everglades, are also in close proximity.

The climate is on the border of tropical monsoon and tropical savanna. The summers are hot and humid, with temperatures creeping from the 70s to the 90s. The winter temperatures range from the 50s to 60s, sometimes reaching 80 degrees.

Plenty of activities and fun are to be had in Homestead. Homestead is home to national parks, the Everglades Alligator Farm and the Fruit and Spice Park. Downtown Homestead, the local rodeo and the Homestead-Miami Speedway are also popular attractions.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools service the city of Homestead. The city is home to at least six elementary schools, four middle schools, two high schools and several charter schools. The Miami-Dade College Homestead campus is popular here too.

At least 10 parks are available in Homestead. These include angelo Mistretta Park, Audubon Park and JD Redd Park.
