Triplexes for rent

Triplexes for rent in the US

As you begin to look for living space, there is a good chance you will come across at least one triplex with an available unit. While you are familiar with the concept of a duplex, you are not sure exactly how a triplex would be arranged. The fact is that this type of three unit building can be structured in several different ways.

When the triplex is a single story dwelling, there is a good chance that the front door to the building will open onto a common hallway. To each side you will notice doors for individual units. At the far end of the hallway, there will be a third door. That door will provide entrance into the third unit that completes the three apartment arrangement.

You may also come across a triplex that is arranged vertically. With this approach, you enter on the ground floor and then take stairs or elevators to reach each of the three units that are located on different stories. Depending on the layout, there may be one unit on the ground floor that is a little larger than the rest. A second floor may be divided into two units that are smaller and intended for individuals or possibly couples. If you happen to live alone, one of those more compact units may be just what you need.

Like a duplex or a quadraplex, people living in a triplex will share common walls. For this reason, it always helps to see the available unit at a time when the other residents are home. Doing so will make it easier to determine if very little sound carries from one unit to the next, or if you can hear every move that your neighbors make.
